Do-Re-Mi and the Joy of Reading: Grade 3 Takes the Stage
21 August 2026
Grade 3 took over the morning assembly with an improvised version of “Do-Re-Mi” from The Sound of Music — only this time, the song was all about books. Standing on stage hand in hand, the class reworked the familiar tune line by line to make the case for reading, swapping in the kinds of stories they love and the worlds those stories open up.
Between verses, the students spoke about how reading helps them learn and grow — building vocabulary, sparking imagination, and giving them a window into places and lives far beyond their own. It was part performance, part pitch: a room full of Grade 3 voices telling the rest of the school, quite literally in song, to pick up a book.
The assembly closed with a simple invitation to everyone watching: open a book, and discover a new world.
