Chasing the Milky Clue: Grade 7 Tests Exhaled Air for Carbon Dioxide
31 August 2026
Our Grade 7 students explored an interesting aspect of human respiration through a simple lime water experiment.
The students gently blew exhaled air into lime water using a straw and observed that the lime water turned milky. This change provided clear evidence that carbon dioxide is present in the air we breathe out.
Through this hands-on activity, students connected classroom learning with a real-life observation and gained a better understanding of respiration and the release of carbon dioxide.
Learning by doing makes science come alive!
